Can ChatGPT or Claude read my agency's WhatsApp and write reports?

Spun MCP connects your own AI account to your WhatsApp, at the access level a manager picks, with every send waiting for approval.

Yes, Spun MCP connects your own ChatGPT or Claude account to your WhatsApp through Spun, so the AI can read chats, list groups and write the report you ask for. You add Spun as a connector with the address https://api.spun.com/api/mcp and sign in with your Spun account; a manager picks one of three access levels and can disconnect the app at any time. Spun runs on a flat monthly plan with team members free and a free trial, on your own WhatsApp number with no Business API approval and no new number. Connected AI apps are on every paid plan, and smaller plans include a read allowance per billing period. What the AI reads goes to your AI provider, under your account with them. It cannot send unless a manager gives it the Assistant with sends level, and even then every message waits in AI Sends for a person to approve unless a manager turns on autonomous sending for that app.

What gets in the way

Weekly reports written by hand

Every Monday someone scrolls through partner groups to write up what happened.

Chats pasted into an AI

Copying chats into ChatGPT loses who said what, and nobody controls what was shared.

Worry about an AI posting to suppliers

Owners want help with reports, not a bot sending on its own.

How your team works it

1

Add Spun as a connector

In ChatGPT or Claude, add a custom connector with the address https://api.spun.com/api/mcp. No API key is needed.

2

Sign in with your Spun account

The AI app opens a Spun sign-in page (OAuth). Sign in with the login you use for the Spun inbox.

3

Pick the access level

On the consent page a manager of your Spun workspace chooses Read-only analyst, "Assistant, no sends" or Assistant with sends, and whether the AI may view photos and voice-note transcripts.

4

Ask for the report

For example: "List my hotel and transport groups and summarise what changed in each this week."

5

Approve anything it wants to send

At Assistant with sends, its messages wait in Spun Tools → Automate → AI Sends, where you approve, edit or reject each one.

6

Change or disconnect

Open Settings → AI Assistant (MCP). Under Connected AI apps, change an app's access level in place or disconnect it.

What Spun gives you

Your own AI account

Spun MCP works inside the ChatGPT or Claude account you already use. Reads by a connected app never use your Spun AI credit.

Three access levels

Read-only analyst reads conversations, groups, contacts and tasks, and cannot change or send anything. "Assistant, no sends" also manages tasks, labels and chats and drafts replies. Assistant with sends can also propose and schedule messages.

Every send waits for a person

Messages an AI app submits wait in AI Sends to be approved, edited or rejected, and quiet hours still apply.

Autonomous sending only by choice

A manager can let one app send text without approval, with a typed confirmation. Media sends always wait.

Reads your prepared digests

The AI can read your chat digest answers; one digest is one read however many messages it covers.

A read allowance you can see

Smaller plans include a read allowance per billing period, and the settings panel shows the reads used so far.

A Monday at a six-person travel agency

  1. 08:30The owner opens Claude, connected as Read-only analyst, and asks for last week's report across the hotel and transport groups.
  2. 08:34Claude lists the groups, reads the messages and writes a one-page report: busiest groups, open requests and what each supplier changed.
  3. 10:00In ChatGPT, connected as Assistant with sends, the owner asks for a reminder to a hotel about a late rooming list. The message lands in AI Sends.
  4. 10:05A coordinator corrects the date in AI Sends and approves it. It goes out from the agency's own number.
  5. 16:30The owner checks the read count for this billing period in Settings → AI Assistant (MCP).

What Spun does not do

  • It runs in your own ChatGPT or Claude account, and whatever the AI reads goes to that AI provider.
  • Read-only analyst and "Assistant, no sends" cannot send. At Assistant with sends, every message waits in AI Sends unless a manager turns on autonomous sending for that app with a typed confirmation; media sends always wait.
  • It sees only what your number has: the groups your number is in, and messages since you linked plus the history handed over. Members who hide their number stay hidden.
  • Photos and voice-note transcripts are read only when the app was approved for them and your workspace allows it. Scanned PDFs and video are not read, and nothing is read while AI access is turned off for the organisation.
  • Adding a custom connector depends on your ChatGPT or Claude plan and its settings, which Spun does not control.

Frequently asked questions

Can ChatGPT or Claude read my agency's WhatsApp and write reports?

Yes, Spun MCP connects your own ChatGPT or Claude account to your WhatsApp through Spun, so the AI can read chats, list groups and write the report you ask for. A manager chooses read-only or assistant access and can disconnect it at any time. What the AI reads goes to your AI provider.

How do I connect ChatGPT to my WhatsApp?

In ChatGPT or Claude, add Spun as a connector with the address https://api.spun.com/api/mcp and sign in with your Spun account. A manager of your Spun workspace approves the connection and picks the access level. Connected AI apps are on every paid plan.

Can ChatGPT send WhatsApp messages for me?

Only if a manager gives it a sending access level, and even then each send waits for a person's approval unless a manager also turns on autonomous sending with a typed confirmation. The read-only level cannot send at all.

Does the AI see guests' personal data?

A connected ChatGPT or Claude sees only what its access level and toolset allow, and what it reads goes to that AI provider.

Where is Spun MCP listed?

Spun MCP is listed in the official MCP Registry, on Smithery and on Glama. You can also add it directly in ChatGPT or Claude with the address https://api.spun.com/api/mcp.

What is Weave?

Weave is Spun's own assistant inside the app, and needs no AI account of your own. Anything Weave wants to send waits in AI Sends for a person to approve.
