WhatsApp Channel

All plans

WhatsApp Channel is the extension that links a WhatsApp number to your Spun workspace, so messages arrive in the Spun inbox and replies go out from the same number your customers already have.

It is the foundation several other extensions build on: file sync, coaching tips and payment reminders all need a connected WhatsApp channel before they can do anything.

What it does

It connects your number using the same linked-device mechanism WhatsApp Web uses. Your phone stays the primary device, your chats stay in WhatsApp, and you can unlink Spun at any time from your phone under WhatsApp, Linked Devices.

Once the connection is live, the extension is also where it is looked after: the Health tab in Settings shows the current status, and the banner at the top of the inbox carries a reconnect action when something needs attention.

Who it is for

  • Businesses that want a shared team inbox on the WhatsApp number they already use, without moving customers to a new number.
  • Anyone installing an extension that operates on WhatsApp conversations, since those extensions say up front that a connected channel is required.
  • Teams running more than one number, each of which is added as its own line with its own inbox, contacts and access list.

How it works inside the inbox

  • Open Settings, WhatsApp, Health, or follow the connect screen shown on first login.
  • Read the notes on what linking does, then decide whether to turn on "Connect through your own internet". If it says "Required", that step is set up before the QR appears.
  • Scan the QR code from your phone under WhatsApp, Linked Devices, Link a Device.
  • Wait for the green Connected status. Messages then flow both ways inside Spun.
  • If the line later stops working, the reconnect screen diagnoses the cause first and offers the matching step. Replacing a channel is always a manual action you confirm.

What it can access

The extension works on the WhatsApp number you link to it: the conversations, contacts and media on that line, so they can be shown and answered inside Spun. It does not reach any other number in your workspace.

Like every extension in the marketplace, it asks for narrow, specific permissions that an admin reviews on the install screen. Reading conversation content additionally requires a separate short-lived consent, and platform admins can suspend any extension instantly.

Frequently asked questions

Does connecting move my chats out of WhatsApp?

No. This is the linked-device connection WhatsApp Web uses. Your phone stays the primary device and your chats stay in WhatsApp. Unlinking Spun from your phone ends the connection at once.

Which plan do I need?

The WhatsApp Channel extension is available on every plan. It is not plan-gated.

Can I connect more than one number?

Yes. Each additional number is its own line with its own inbox, contacts, settings and access list, and conversations never merge between numbers. Adding numbers is done on the web, not in the iOS or Android apps.

What happens if the connection drops?

Spun never swaps the channel behind your back. The reconnect screen works out the cause first, whether the number needs re-scanning, the connection has to be reloaded, or a proxy computer is offline, and shows the matching step.

Connect your WhatsApp number
