Find the symptom that matches what you see. Each one below says what it looks like and what to do. None of them needs a support ticket: the fix is in Spun settings, in ChatGPT settings, or with the person who manages your Spun organization or ChatGPT workspace.
The option to create a connector is missing
What you see: ChatGPT settings show no way to add or create a custom connector, so there is nowhere to paste the Spun address.
What to do: check three things in ChatGPT. Custom connectors need a ChatGPT plan that has them: Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. On Business and Enterprise, a workspace admin has to turn connectors on first. If the plan has them and the option is still missing, ChatGPT may need Developer mode turned on. The option may appear under apps, plugins or connectors depending on the account; the Spun MCP page keeps the path Spun last checked.

Sign-in works, but the consent screen refuses or sends you back
What you see: after signing in with Spun, the consent screen says that connecting an AI assistant requires an organization manager role, or it does not list the organization you expected, or you end up back at the sign-in page.
What to do: only a manager of your Spun organization can approve the connection, and the screen lists only the organizations where the signed-in account is a manager. Ask a manager to connect ChatGPT, or to give your account the manager role. If the list shows the wrong organizations, you are probably signed in with a different Spun account than the one you use for the inbox: sign out and sign in with the inbox login.
Connected, but ChatGPT finds no chats or gives an empty answer
What you see: ChatGPT connects, but says there are no conversations, or answers with nothing useful, or says it cannot do what you asked.
What to do: check these in order.
- Is a WhatsApp number linked? If not, Spun tells ChatGPT that no number is linked yet and gives it a link to finish the QR step. Open that link, or open Spun and scan the QR code with the WhatsApp you want to connect.
- Is the chat inside what Spun can see? ChatGPT sees the groups your number is in, and messages since you linked plus the history handed over. On Free MCP, message history is 7 days. Members who hide their number stay hidden.
- Was it a photo, voice note or document? Photos and voice-note transcripts are read only when the app was approved for them on the consent screen. Scanned PDFs and video are not read.
- Did you ask for an action? Read-only analyst can read but not organize chats, draft or send. A manager can change the level under Settings, AI Assistant (MCP), Connected AI apps.
"Your Connected AI read allowance ... is used up" or "Your Connected AI reads have reached ..."
What you see: ChatGPT relays a message that your organization's Connected AI read allowance for the trial, or for this period, is used up, that reads resume on a date, and that an organization manager can review it in Spun. Claude and other AI apps show the longer Spun wording: "Your Connected AI reads have reached your trial allowance", "... the Free plan allowance" or "... your plan limit", with the date reads resume and the options in Settings, Plan & Usage.
What it means: AI reads that return your data are counted against a monthly allowance. On Free MCP it is 100 reads a month. Sends, edits and other actions, and status and permission checks, never count. Along the way, Spun may add a line to an answer saying how many AI calls you have this month and how many are left.
What to do: wait for the date in the message, or have an organization manager open Settings, Plan & Usage in Spun to see the allowance and the plans. Sends keep working in the meantime, because they never count as reads.
"This account's free trial ended" or "its Self Proxy is paused"
What you see: in Claude and other AI apps, "This account's free trial ended. The account admin can pick a plan in Spun (Settings, Plan & Usage) to restore access, or save a card there to continue on Free MCP." ChatGPT relays the short form: "This organization's free trial ended. An organization manager can review it in Spun."
What to do: the account admin either picks a plan in Settings, Plan & Usage, or saves a card there to continue on Free MCP at no charge.
A second form adds that the Self Proxy is paused: "This account's free trial ended and its Self Proxy is paused. The account admin can pick a plan in Spun (Settings, Plan & Usage) to keep it, or switch the line to a shared proxy there to continue on Free MCP." Here the two ways forward are keeping the Self Proxy on a paid plan, or switching the line to a shared proxy and continuing on Free MCP.
A tool is "not available" or "not included"
What you see: ChatGPT relays one of two messages. "Tool "get_follow_up_queue" is not available for this organization right now. An organization manager can review it in Spun." means the tool is part of the paid plans and your organization is on Free MCP. "Tool "create_contact" is not available on this connection yet." means the tool exists on the Spun MCP server but is not yet among the tools a ChatGPT connection can use.
In Claude and other AI apps, the plan message is longer: it says the tool is not included in your plan, often names what the paid plans add, and ends with how to choose a paid plan in Settings, Plan & Usage.
What to do: for a plan message, an organization manager can review the plans in Spun. For a "not available on this connection yet" message there is nothing to fix in your account: ask for something the connection can do, or use the tool from Claude or another MCP client. The list of things you can ask, with which ones are free and which work from ChatGPT today, is on the page linked below.
ChatGPT says it sent a message, but nothing arrived
What you see: ChatGPT reports the message as submitted or sent, but the customer never got it.
What to do: at Assistant with sends, every message ChatGPT proposes waits in Spun under Tools, Automate, AI Sends until a teammate with send permission approves it. Open AI Sends and approve, edit or reject it. A request nobody approves expires after about 24 hours. Photos and files from an AI app always wait for a person, and a message that falls inside your quiet hours is held until they end.

You want to change the access level or remove the connection
What to do: a manager opens Settings, AI Assistant (MCP), Connected AI apps in Spun. There you can change the access level in place or disconnect ChatGPT. Connecting it again from ChatGPT shows the consent screen again, and turns off autonomous sending if a manager had turned it on.
