A prize wheel where every entrant messages you first

The usual lead magnet collects a phone number and leaves you with the hard part: a list of strangers you now have to message cold, from a WhatsApp number that has never spoken to them. Cold first messages are exactly what WhatsApp weighs against a business account.

Lead Games turns that around. You publish a spin-to-win page at yourbusiness.playmyoffer.com, and by default a participant has to send your business a WhatsApp message before the wheel unlocks. The lead arrives as a real conversation they opened, so following up is a reply, not a first contact. This page is what ships, how the two entry modes differ, and where the game deliberately stops.

What a Lead Games campaign is

A campaign is a public page at yourbusiness.playmyoffer.com/your-campaign: a prize wheel, a short entry form with the fields you chose, and a strip beside the wheel listing the prizes on offer. You build it in Spun under Settings, Lead Games, with a name, a page address, start and end times, a maximum number of entries, a daily entry limit, how many days unverified entries are kept, the rule for when an entry becomes a lead, and bot protection on the form.

Only organization managers see and use the Lead Games screen; everyone else sees a note that managers run it, and the server refuses the requests anyway. Your business name becomes the game hostname on the Hostnames tab. A name is reserved for your business for life; Detach only disables it.

Until a participant is eligible to spin, the wheel shows as locked, with copy explaining what unlocks it. Once eligible it becomes armed and ready. Landing on a real prize shows confetti; a no-prize result never does.

  • One public page per campaign, on your own playmyoffer.com hostname.
  • Built and run from Settings, Lead Games, by managers only.
  • Three tabs: Campaigns, Leads and Hostnames.

Two entry modes, and why the default is WhatsApp first

The campaign editor has one switch titled "Require WhatsApp before spinning", and it is on by default. In this mode a participant fills in the form, then sends your business a WhatsApp message containing their entry code from their own phone, and only then can they spin. Every completed entrant has therefore messaged you first: they are a contact in your inbox with a conversation already open, and your follow-up is a reply inside a chat they started. The editor asks you to pick the receiving number, shows the number participants will message, and warns if that number is disconnected. In required mode the phone field on the form can be left off entirely, because the WhatsApp message supplies the number.

Switched off, entrants spin without WhatsApp. There is less friction, and the page offers a "Continue on WhatsApp" link afterwards, but there is no guarantee you can reach every participant through WhatsApp. The editor says plainly that required mode may reduce completed entries; that is the trade you are choosing.

In both modes the participant is the one who presses Send. Spun never writes to an entrant first, and the game never launches promotional follow-up on its own.

The entry mode and the receiving number are frozen into each published version, and the publish dialog states which mode it is publishing.

Prizes, odds and stock

Prizes are a table of wheel segments. Each has a weight, an optional inventory and daily limit, an optional coupon code, and an active switch, and a segment can be a no-prize slice. The live odds are shown beside each weight, and they shift as inventory runs out, so a prize that has sold out stops being landed on without you touching anything.

Under the table, a "Winner messages" block holds, per real prize, the reward message and the redemption instructions appended after it. If the reward message is empty, the acknowledgement reads "Congratulations! You won:" plus the prize.

Publishing shows a six-column carry-over preview per prize: previous total, awarded so far, previous remaining, new total and remaining after publish. If you raised a prize total, the row is highlighted and you must tick an acknowledgement before publishing. The dialog also warns when entrants have already verified on the current version and are waiting to spin, because publishing makes them start again.

How the wheel looks

An occasion preset bundles a template, a decorative motif and matching title and headline text into one click, and you can hand-edit everything afterwards. Each template belongs to one of five wheel shapes: full pie slices, a donut with an open centre, gapped slices with a rim between them, a flat outlined ring, or a half-circle.

A Wheel design card under the prize table shows the campaign's wheel drawn with your own prizes and names its template. "Choose another design" opens a dialog that plays through the entire participant experience, landing to spin to result, inside a phone-sized frame before you publish, can show several templates side by side, and "Save design" makes the one you settled on the campaign's wheel. The publish dialog carries the same Look picker as a gallery grouped into Evergreen, Seasonal and Promotions tabs; the Promotions tab has no templates yet and says so.

A manager can switch on a soft tick sound while the wheel spins. It plays only after the participant has allowed sound in their own browser, and a mute choice remembered on their device always wins over the campaign setting.

Running a campaign

  1. 1

    Create the campaign

Name, page address, dates, limits, the entry mode and, in required mode, the receiving number. Save prizes and settings before you publish.

  2. 2

    Publish a version

Confirm the look, read the carry-over preview and the frozen entry mode, choose which form fields are required, and publish. Each publish is a version; entrants who verified on the old one start again.

  3. 3

    Run it

A published campaign can be paused, resumed, stopped now, completed, archived or duplicated. A live required-mode campaign is flagged in the list and the editor when its receiving number is unhealthy.

  4. 4

    Work the leads

The Leads tab lists entries across campaigns with contact details masked by default. Reveal contact details is an explicit request recorded in the audit log, and any refresh or filter change masks them again. Entries awaiting review can be approved or rejected there.

  5. 5

    Redeem the winners

Redeem marks a prize handed over, with an optional note; Void cancels a prize the winner declined; Reopen undoes either. A prize can only be redeemed once even if two people click at the same time, and redeeming never changes inventory or odds.

Where the game meets your inbox

When a participant messaged your business, their WhatsApp conversation shows a Lead Games card: the campaign, whether they won and what, the redemption status, and the same Redeem, Void and Reopen buttons, with contact details still masked on the card. The person who spun the wheel is the person you are already talking to, so the follow-up happens in the thread they opened.

The publish dialog has a "Send winners a WhatsApp acknowledgement" switch, off by default. Switched on, a participant who messaged you and wins receives a short message naming the prize, built from the reward message and redemption instructions you wrote for it. A failed or delayed acknowledgement never changes the prize itself. Nothing is sent to anyone who did not message you.

Embedding the game on your own website

After publishing, an "Embed on your website" section gives you a copy-paste snippet, either inline in the page or as a corner launch button, with setup notes for common site builders and a live preview. An allowed-websites list controls which of your sites may embed the game, and campaign analytics split entries into embedded versus played directly on the game page.

What the game deliberately does not do

A lead magnet that quietly builds a cold list would undo the point. These limits are the feature.

  • It never messages an entrant first. The participant presses Send from their own WhatsApp; the only message Spun can send is the optional winner acknowledgement, to someone who already wrote to you.
  • It never sends promotional follow-up. What you do with the open conversation is up to you, inside your normal sending limits.
  • It never restores a detached hostname to the pool. The name stays reserved for your business.
  • It never reveals contact details silently. Every reveal is an explicit, audited request, and the list masks again on refresh.
  • It never lets redemption change the odds. Inventory moves only when the wheel lands.

Frequently asked questions

What does "Require WhatsApp before spinning" do?

With it on, a participant fills in the form, sends your business a WhatsApp message with their entry code from their own phone, and only then can spin. Every completed entrant has messaged you first, so they arrive in your inbox with a conversation already open. It is on by default.

Does Spun message the entrants?

No. The participant always presses Send. The one optional message is a winner acknowledgement, off by default, sent only to a winner who already messaged you.

Why do the odds change during a campaign?

Odds follow the weights of the prizes that still have stock. When a prize's inventory or daily limit runs out, the wheel stops landing on it and the remaining weights share the odds.

Why does publishing ask me to acknowledge something?

Because you raised a prize total. The carry-over preview highlights that row and asks for a tick so a bigger giveaway is never published by accident.

Why are lead phone numbers hidden?

Contact details are masked by default. Reveal contact details is an explicit request that is recorded in the audit log, and any refresh, filter change or Hide masks them again.

How do I mark a prize as handed over?

Press Redeem on the Leads tab or on the Lead Games card in the participant's conversation. Void cancels a prize the winner declined, Reopen undoes either, and a prize can only be redeemed once.

Can I put the wheel on my own website?

Yes. After publishing, copy the embed snippet, inline or as a corner launch button, add your site to the allowed-websites list, and analytics will show embedded entries separately from entries on the game page.
